Pediatric Hearing Tests
Hearing loss can have significant effects on children’s speech and language development. We provide six hearing tests that are commonly used in paediatric hearing assessments:
Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA)
Purpose：Aims to assess the hearing levels of children with a developmental age of 6 months to 2 years old through providing them with visual “reward”.
Procedure：Sounds of different frequencies are presented either via headphone or sound field speakers to the child inside the sound booth. The child is conditioned to make a head turn towards the direction of sound stimuli. An animated lighted toy will then be presented as a visual “reward” to reinforce the child’s responses
Conditioned Play Audiometry (CPA)
Purpose：Aims to assess hearing levels of children with a developmental age of 3 to 5 years old.
Procedure：Sounds of different frequencies are presented via headphone to the children inside the sound booth. The child is conditioned to perform a task with toys whenever a sound is heard, such as putting a block in a box to indicate a response towards the sound heard.
We also provide the following test battery for infants and children according to their developmental age:

Untreated hearing loss may result in speech defects, communication, learning and behavioral problems in children. In fact, the vast majority of hearing-impaired cases in children could only be treated with hearing aids. The earlier the use of hearing instruments, the faster can the child catch up with other normally developed children.
