Designed specifically to help individuals with Single-sided deafness (SSD)

Single-sided deafness (SSD) is defined as unaidable hearing in one ear and normal hearing or an aidable hearing loss in the other ear. It can be especially challenging to follow conversations when patients have no hearing or very little hearing in one ear. Imagine sitting in an important meeting and not being able to pinpoint who is talking, or having to choose between hearing the TV at a party for a sporting event versus talking with other guests. Introducing Oticon CROS (contralateral routing of signal)/ BiCROS (bilateral contralateral routing of signal), a solution designed specifically to help individuals with SSD overcome challenges like these.

TwinLink™ dual-streaming - An industry first

Oticon CROS is the world’s first CROS/ BiCROS solution with TwinLink™ dual-streaming. TwinLink™ technology makes it possible to connect the receiving hearing aid to external audio streams while simultaneously enjoying sound transmission from the poorer ear to the better ear. External audio is sent directly to the receiving hearing aid using 2.4 GHz Bluetooth Low Energy and the Oticon CROS transmitter is sending through NFMI. Patients can watch television or listen to music and still be aware of speech in the surroundings.
Sounds are picked up by the microphones in the CROS transmitter located on the poorer ear. Then, they are transmitted via Near-Field Magnetic Induction (NFMI) to a receiving hearing aid located on the better ear. If some hearing loss is present in the better ear, the solution is set up as a BiCROS configuration. The CROS/ BiCROS system enables wearers to hear speech and sounds from all directions. This creates a more natural, comfortable and less tiring listening experience.

OpenSound Navigator constantly scans the environment, balances sound levels and removes unwanted noise. Oticon CROS helps these patients actively engage in conversations in all types of listening environments.
